OUR SPONSORS
ELIJA (Empowering Long Island's Journey through Autism) is excited to be hosting our 19th Annual Sy Schwartz Golf Outing on Monday, June 1st, at the amazing Brookville Country Club, Long Island. This year, we are proud to recognize and honor Randi Rothberg and Christina Thivierge of Thivierge and Rothberg Attorneys At Law for their outstanding support and commitment to our community!

Take advantage of early bird pricing now; registration rates will increase on May 1! All sponsorship opportunities include $100 worth of raffle tickets if purchased by April 30th as part of our early bird special. Individual Golf Packages are $650, and Foursome Golf Packages are $2,500, and both will increase on May 1st.

Proceeds from this annual event go directly toward improving the lives of the 1 in 36 children diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), a condition that is now more common than pediatric cancer, diabetes, and AIDS combined. While there is no prevention or cure for Autism, research shows that the right support can lead to meaningful improvements and better long-term outcomes. At ELIJA, we work tirelessly to provide each learner with a personalized, high-quality education that builds communication, social, and cognitive skills.

The ELIJA Foundation, a not-for-profit 501(c)(3) organization, has been serving parents, educators, professionals, and caregivers since 2002. We offer educational opportunities and training focused on improving the quality of programs and services available to children with Autism. In 2006, The ELIJA School opened to extend this mission and directly support children with ASD. By 2016, we expanded our programming to guide our young learners as they transition into adulthood.

ELIJA’s focus is to empower individuals and families living with ASD throughout their lives. We believe in hope, hard work, and the idea that every child and adult with Autism deserves a real chance, and that their families deserve our commitment, expertise, and support. With the increasing number of young children being diagnosed each year, ELIJA’s services are more important than ever.

Randi M. Rothberg Esq.  is a Co-founding Partner at Thivierge & Rothberg, P.C., a Long Island based law firm which represents students and their families. Coming out of law school with a background and passion for civil rights work, Randi now has over two decades of experience working exclusively on special education matters. Randi has lived on the East Coast all of her life – she grew up in Plainview, New York; attended college at the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia; and completed her education at Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law, Yeshiva University in Manhattan – though she fondly remembers her semester abroad at King’s College London. Outside of work, Randi is an active board member of the Syosset Council of PTAs and the PTSA at Harry B. Thompson Middle School, where her daughter Rory attends. Last year, she received the New York State PTA Advocate in Action Award for her work for the J. Irving Baylis Elementary School’s PTA. Randi also volunteers as a member of the Education Committee for her synagogue, Midway Jewish Center. Randi lives in Plainview with her husband, Jeremy, her daughter, Rory, and her adorable sometimes menace dog, Ralph. Outside of work, she has perfected carpool loops around Plainview, Old Bethpage, and Syosset; and she loves iced coffee, Broadway shows, Wordle, vintage jewelry, travel planning, and watching her favorite tv shows multiple times.

Christina D. Thivierge, Esq,  is a co-founding partner and principal in the law firm Thivierge & Rothberg, P.C., a private law firm in New York that was founded in 2008. The law firm concentrates on special education cases in from administrative hearing to federal courts and appeals. Formerly, Christina was the Senior Associate at a prominent New York law firm, where she handled special education matters all over the country and at all levels of litigation. Christina received her Juris Doctorate from the City University of New York School of Law and her Bachelor’s degree from Central Connecticut State University. Christina is admitted to practice law in the state and federal courts of New York and New Jersey, as well as a number of federal Courts of Appeal. In addition to litigating due process matters in New York, New Jersey, Indiana and Alaska, Christina has extensive federal court experience and has argued and presented dispositive motions and matters of first impression across the nation. In recent years, Christina has primarily focused on tangling with school districts across Long Island, defending the rights of children and families across Nassau and Suffolk.

Christina is also an award-winning member of the New York State Association for Behavior Analysis, Inc. Christina has been honored and provided with awards for her work in special education by a number of organizations in the Tri-State area. She has served on the Board of The Genesis School, the Behavior Analyst Leadership Council, and the Daniel F. Tauter Scholarship Fund. She also belongs to the Council of Parent Attorneys and Advocates and the New York County Lawyers Association. Additionally, she has presented on the IDEA, Federal and New York State Education Law, and other special education law topics for several organizations in the Tri-State area and Alaska. Prior to attending law school, Christina spent nine years working with adults with disabilities through the Central Connecticut ARC. Christina served in the Peace Corps in Guatemala and has volunteered in the areas of sexual assault and domestic violence. She is the proud stepparent of a 27-year-old son, Jason, who has autism, and brings a deeply personal perspective to her work.

Paint & Sip at ELIJA Foundation's 19th Annual Sy Schwartz Golf Outing:
Take a break from the course and join us for a relaxing Paint & Sip experience during our 19th Annual Golf Outing! The experience begins with a delicious brunch from 10:30 AM – 12:00 PM, followed by a guided painting session from 12:20 PM – 2:30 PM. It’s the perfect way to enjoy great food, creativity, and the beautiful setting of the day.
Guided by artist Juan, participants will create their own painting inspired by the farm and the iconic style of Van Gogh’s “Starry Night,” reimagined in a bright daytime setting. Juan has been teaching art education and creating murals in libraries and community spaces since 2019. His approachable teaching style breaks artwork down into simple shapes so participants of all skill levels can paint with confidence and leave with a piece they’re proud of.
All materials will be provided, including easels, canvases, and paints, so guests can simply relax, sip, and enjoy the creative process. Juan will also be supported by an assistant to ensure everyone receives guidance throughout the experience. We hope you’ll join us for another incredible day in support of ELIJA!
